Not sure if that helps, but I had strange issues with a kinect showing sometimes up and sometimes not some years ago.
I just had to replace the power supply and everything worked well again.

KinectExample stop working (model 1473 /Xcode7.1/ El Capitan 10.11).Does anyone has the same problem on this?
