Both of those codecs aren't natively supported by direct show which is why they are throwing an error. The previous versions use quicktime which supported those codecs, the mov being quicktimes native format. installing the codec pack should fix it but another option is using an addon like ofxWMFVideoPlayer to play those files. The problem with that addon is that it doesnt support all the loop methods and it can't play videos in reverse.
