Hello,
For the last five years I’ve been organizing a creative coders meetup here in SF that has been all about bringing people with similar interests together to hang out and build friendships whilst doing things outside. Most of our events have been activities like BBQs, bike rides over the GG bridge, Giant’s games, sailing trips and so forth although we’ve also hosted a few skill share out sessions and presentations when I’ve been able to find venues.
In any event the group has been an awesome way to meet people with similar interests in the creative coding space in a super chill, relaxed (and often sunny!) environment and over the years it’s how I’ve met some of my best friends in SF.
Unfortunately I’ve been so busy with work & family obligations that I haven’t had the time over the last year+ to dedicate the time required to continue to drive the group forward.
Because of this I’ve decided to (sadly) close down the group unless I can find a few folks that are willing to commit to helping me resurrect the group and co-organize it with me going forward.
My vision for the group has always been a free monthly meetup where the events were a nice balance of outdoor activities like BBQs, day hikes, bike rides etc and indoor activities like skill share outs and presentations.
Also the group has always been technology/platform agnostic and because of this has attracted folks across a really wide spectrum of creative coding toolsets like d3, flash, unity, touch designer, processing, maxmsp, etc… which has been really nice as I feel that has allowed the group to feel more open, inviting (and accepting) to people.
That having been said I personally have always wanted to see a stronger oF presence within the group and meet more SF based oF devs in general as oF has for many years been a core tool of my workflow. (hence why I’m posting on the forum)
So if you’re outgoing, live in the Bay Area and are interested in helping me lead our little community forward please send me a PM asap.
Thanks!
Stephen
