Console appears on top of app

Hi,

I've just set up OF 0.8.4 on a rpi2 based on these instructions.

All seemed to go well, except when I run an example it appears behind the console:

This is a fresh pi - the only change I made was to rotate the display in /boot/config.txt
I've tried running OF_WINDOW and OF_FULLSCREEN with the same results

Has anyone had this problem before, or any ideas on how to solve it?
